Despite trying to ignore the truth, I'm getting old. In less than two months I'll be 28, and I feel like it'll be 30. It doesn't help that if I go out and I make it to bed by midnight, I feel like I had a great time. Whatever happened to the all-nighters I used to pull when younger? or being up till 3am watching reruns? I just can't do that at all anymore. My body is not the same. Darn! I'm turning boring!
This picture is sort of how my brain feels right now, after a 'wild' night.

These were taken the other day while I waited for my printer to work. Despite the fact that it's scorching hot outside, I'm always cold in my office which means I always have to have a sleeve of some sort. So this jean jacket was perfect for this dress since I had the 80s in my mind when I got dressed.
This is a picture of how my dress was ballooning up when I was driving since I had the window down. At first, I didn't notice it. But once I did, I had to take a picture.

I can't step outside. Rather, I won't unless I absolutely have to -aka walking to car. However, this morning the emergency alarm went off in the building I work at, and suddenly, there I was roasting under the sun. It's so hot out here.
If I have to sit down and absorb some vitamin D, at least I wish I could do it fashionably like these gals.

It's Wednesday! Just two more days for the weekend. I honestly can't wait. And although it'll be a hectic time, I sure like any time away from work....
Here's some pics captured in my office. Check out the cool Med Men calendar in the back. I love Betty.

When I look at these, I feel like I could get lost inside of them. So many tiny details in some of these. I think that's what draws me in - the possibilities of each one. Almost the same amazement I feel whenever I look at all the components that make up a computer.
They also make me think of a short story a read a while back about someone? falling from a building, but sort of in slow motion, and all the things that could be observed through the windows. I wish I remembered the name of the author...

These are some pictures I took of lake Carolyn in the Las Colinas area. It's so beautiful out here; I love the juxtaposition between the city and the lake including all the beautiful ducks and birds.
I come out in the early evenings to take walks and I just stare at the sunset practically in awe.

I've been thinking - no surprise there, and I am in awe of just how different life would be if we made different decisions about basically everything we do.
Ex. I went to a particular college, who led me to nourish my friendship with awesome people, who introduced me to some clubs, one of which would eventually take me on a trip to Manhattan (a pretty big moment of my life). But I could've gone to any school in the area (plenty schools in Dallas), or I might have not been friends with those girls, or I might have turned the club down.
So every tiny decision changes your life forever; well almost every tiny decision. And I guess I'm thinking about it because I want to connect all the dots... but I guess I'll have to wait.
Oh! and I'm pretty proud of these waves I managed to sport all day. (My hair is pretty unpredictable when I don't style it, so this was a victory.)

I can't stop fidgeting and spacing out; I just can't concentrate at all today.
SO... I'd figure I'd post something in search of some focus. Here's an outfit I love and a reliable go to template for when I want to feel sexy yet classy (not sure why). Long button down shirt (can't remember brand), some skinny pants (Levi's), and some pointy toe pumps (Steve Maddedn Luxe). Oh and an Oscar de la Renta scarf for an extra punch of color. Purse is Steve Madden too.
I really feel I could wear this type of outfit everyday and feel ok. (Of course I'd soon feel bored, but that's another story).

I have been cooking a lot lately. Since I don't buy meat, I've been going to Vegetarian Times a lot to find helpful easy and fast recipes for whenever I feel famished.
I strongly recommend it since even if you eat meat, these recipes make great side dishes.
Above (top and bottom): Avocado Chimichurri Bruschetta
I actually just toasted some good whole wheat bread and loaded it with this concoction and skipped the oven.
30 minutes or fewer
Talk about a fusion of world cuisines! Cubes of avocado are folded into chimichurri—an Argentinean sauce made of chopped parsley, cilantro, garlic, vinegar, and oil—to create a Latin variation on bruschetta, a classic Italian starter.
2 Tbs. lemon juice
2 Tbs. red wine vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced (1 Tbs.)
¾ tsp. salt
½ tsp. red pepper flakes
½ tsp. dried oregano
¼ tsp. ground black pepper
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup chopped cilantro
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
2 avocados, peeled, pitted, and cubed
6 ½-inch-thick slices whole-grain or ciabatta bread, toasted
Combine lemon juice, vinegar, garlic, salt, red pepper flakes, oregano, and black pepper in small bowl. Whisk in oil, then stir in cilantro and parsley. Fold in avocado cubes. Spoon avocado mixture onto toast slices, and serve.
This has been a favorite of mine for the past month. I have done it so much. What's great is that you can switch the avocado and replace with almost anything you want or use it as a dressing over salad or rice. Yumm!
Above (middle): Cherry–Goat Cheese Bruschetta
Again, I just toasted the bread and skipped the oven. Oh and don't overdo it with the cherries, less is more in this case.
30 minutes or fewer
30 minutes or fewer Cherries give tangy goat cheese a touch of summer sweetness in this colorful bruschetta. If you cant find shelled unsalted pistachios, use chopped almonds or hazelnuts.
24 thin baguette slices
2 Tbs. olive oil
4 oz. fresh goat cheese, softened
1 ½ cups pitted, chopped fresh cherries
½ cup shelled unsalted pistachios
⅛ tsp. ground black pepper
1. Preheat oven to broil. Place baguette slices on baking sheet, and broil 2 to 3 minutes, or until one side is toasted. Place slices toasted side down on serving platter, brush with olive oil, then spread with thin layer of cheese.
2. Stir together cherries, pistachios and black pepper. Scoop 1 heaping tablespoon cherry mixture onto each goat cheese toast. Serve immediately.
This cholate bark was nothing crazy. I just melted some Carob Chips (the vegan version of chocolate chips) and spread a thin layer over some wax paper. Since I miscalculated how much time I had, I ended up with whole almonds (I prefer shaved almonds, but I was out). I also added some shaved coconut to some of it.

I have to admit that I'm not having a good Monday at all. This morning it took me forever to get up, and then I couldn't find anything I needed. Once at the office, I couldn't find the keys to get into my office... what the heck!
Anyway, I'm trying to get rid of the headache that's keeping me from seeing straight, and I'm just looking around on this website, xkcd.com. A long time ago, a friend of mine sent me a link to it, and ever since it's been pretty good at distracting me.
Well I hope everyone else is having a wonderful - or at least functional - Monday.
I agree! those are creepy shoes...

Ever since I discovered that braiding my hair was a highly efficient way to hide bad hair days and ever since we saw just how beautiful they can look at the Valentino runway, I have been practicing every so often to achieve a respectable braid.
I guess I'll keep trying ....

So I've said before that I'm not a vegetarian or vegan (even though I strongly believe I should be, the temptations of this earth are just too irresistible sometimes), but I do eat more veggies than anything else.
I really think veggies are more delicious than most meat dishes; therefore, I love vegetarian restaurants or regular restaurants that are finally allowing their customers to ask for the vegetarian alternatives to their regular menus.
Cosmic Cafe, in the Turtle Creek area, is so good I wish I lived closer to eat there at least once a week. I personally love their Samosas from the appetizers, and the Buddha's Delight from their platters. If you stop by Dallas, check it out.

We are starting to reach extremely high temperatures down here. I really couldn't wear pants even if I wanted to since walking through the parking lot is enough to make you sweat.
I have been buying quite a few skirts lately, and luckily I found this one. I really don't like regular polka dots that much, but this skirt worked. Oh and how cute is this J. Crew shirt?
The last picture was taken when I was experimenting with the idea for a self portrait, so please ignore the patchy area I had to edit in the background.
