Tarleton State University

Tarleton St Univ. was so much fun to visit. For some reason, whenever I find myself close to a higher ed school, I feel the need to tour their facilities.

I personally loved all the purple around and just all the cool colors found everywhere.

How cool was this?

I really wish I had had more time to stay and look around. But by the time we made it here, it was time to head back home.

I guess I better start thinking what other school to hit next...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hard 8: Stephenville's Treasure

So I try to avoid eating meat, but sometimes it's just too hard to resist. At home I don't even bother to buy it (Salmon is the only thing that might be found in my freezer); however, when you're out and about sometimes it's hard to find vegetarian/vegan friendly places. (I'm not a Vegan or Vegetarian, but I try to stick to a healthy diet most of the time.)

So was the case at Stephenville, TX where we found Hard 8, an awesome BBQ place. I felt guilty as we ordered the pork ribs and the brisket and the mac and cheese (the best mac and cheese I've had in my entire life!), and whatever else I stuffed my face with. But once the delicious spicy BBQ sauce touched my tongue, I was in heaven.

If you're ever close, don't hesistate to visit. It was awesome!

We ordered by the pound, and it was just too good to only order one thing...

Oh Brownie!... Please just one more!

Have to admit, I haven't had a super great time lately. Can't stop thinking we're all going to die or the world is going to end so why bother then?

However, my spirts are always lifted when I eat good food, and this weekend was no exception. I had some great authentic Mexican, crawfish boil (this would probably be my last meal if I needed to choose and if my mom could make it), and then I had the world's greatest brownie.

It was by Oh Brownie, and I could not believe just how good it was. You see, I've never been a brownie person. They are typically too dry, too dense, too spongie, you name it. But this brownie was so good, I wanted at least 10 more. Of course, I had to stop myself - especially since I'm tring to lose weight.

I actually bought it because it was being sold at the place we bought the crawfish, TJ's Market, and I had just read a great review on F!D Luxe. I highly recommend it! Eat More Brownies!

My favorite was Good Karmel - Sea Salt Caramel.

I'm almost done with my second painting. That's basically all I did this weekend. At one point, I inadvertently picked up some Phthalo blue with the back of my hand and didn't notice until it was all over the place including the painting.

Ah well, almost done.

FYI: So far I've been using freezer wrap as a palette, but I tried wax paper this weekend, and it was so much better. I'd give it a try... at least, if you're using oils.

As part of my day tour of west Texas in search for a cool landscape pictures (no success on that front), I visited Glen Rose, TX.

Glen Rose is probably best known for its dinosaur related attractions - including dinosaur tracks. I can't testify to the tracks since it had rained heavily and the tracks couldn't be seen since the river was too high.

However, I still visited the site and just walking their hiking trails and enjoying the sight of the moving river was enough. It was so peaceful, and I just sat there for a while soaking up the sun and being glad I could escape the city for a little while.

These are the only two dinosaurs from the tracks park. The rest are from Dinosaur World including all the gift shop items.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of cacti all over the place. I'm a big fan of cactus fruit, so those people are lucky.

This is where the tracks are supposed to be, but as you can see that river had other priorities than showing us the tracks.

One of my photography projects for school is to emulate the work of Helmut Newton. I am really not doing well, but at least this picture happened and I really like it.

I'll continue to take pictures but the time is fast approaching, so I'll post later what else I came up with.

Btw I'm actually wearing a Target shirt that's two sizes too big but I couldn't not buy it.

I recently had the urge to get up at 3am and set out to west Texas to take landscape pictures (none of which were good). And even though the pictures were not good (at least not for their purpose), I did enjoy the trip immensely. And I can't wait to go back.

Unfortunately at Grandbury, I only stayed for the sunrise. So after the sun came up, we just rushed to get breakfast before we jumped on the highway again.

We stopped at The Nutshell, Eatery and Bakery. It was such a cool place. Since I'm planning on going back, I think I'll try to find out what was on the second floor.

I couldn't resist taking pictures of the abundant cattle everywhere. They are all so cute. I really want to pet them, although I'm told they wouldn't let me so easily.

I've been having an awful day so far, and since I can't crawl into a hole, I'm trying to think of next week when I'll have spring break.

Of course, it will not be an actual break since I've got plenty of homework piled up, but at least I will not be working. And since I will be doing mostly photography and painting, it should keep me focused enough.

It is Friday, so I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Speaking of tea...

For the last two weeks, I have had a peanut butter (sometimes with bananas) sandwich with a cup of Sencha Tea (green tea leaves) everyday for breakfast. It's the perfect breakfast to me, really.

So, I've been on the hunt for cute tea cups since I've spending so much time drinking tea -not just for breakfast. And I can't decide if I want to go modern, aren't those piggies cute?, or old school. Regardless, I won't be drinking as much tea with a single cup, highly inconvinient, so maybe I need a tea pot too.

When I saw this (you can buy the print here) over at Krisatomic, I couldn't smile enough.

Unfortunately I do suffer from chronic bitchface, and it can be a problem sometimes. I personally embrace it, but most people don't (my boss has addressed several times my lack of networking and approachable demeanor that I apparently should have [ I do keep my office's door cracked at a 20 degree angle])....

Anyway, I love this print and Krisatomic. Glad someone sees that on the inside, I'm rather a happy person.

Doesn't anyone ever wish to be able to just shut down their brain?

Lately, I've been really unfocused, but also almost unable to think clearly about anything at anytime. Spacing out has always been my forte, but I could always focus if I wanted to. Now I sit in from of my computer unable to make sense of almost anything...

I'm not sure what it is, but I sure hope I snap out of it soon...
