Having just readjusted my entire room, I've been looking at bedrooms online to gain inspiration on what I want to do with it (even though the only real thing I'll do decorating wise will be to put pictures on the wall).

These two caught my attention with their colorful touch. They sort of sit at different sides of the spectrum, but I like them both very much.

It's Friday, woo hoo! Actually, not woo hoo because my vacation week is practically over and then I'll have to go back to work :(

I guess it was inevitable and I'd have to go back sometime, I'm just sad it arrived so fast. However, I do anticipate plenty of work so the same curse is the same blessing: I'll be so busy to hardly notice that the new year started and I've no clear resolutions.

I hope everyone has an excellent New Year party/hangout/sleep. They all sound perfect to me.

These pictures were taken last week when I was Christmas shopping. Thankfully the rain wasn't heavy until we actually made it inside the mall, and by the time we left, it was only misting. It was kind of good that it rained, we needed it. Although somehow, it got a little warner since, and it still hasn't picked up much.

Now I'm headed back to reading Mockingjay, the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I can't wait for the movie to come out. So far my favorite character is Peeta, and I'm so excited that Josh Hutcherson is playing the role. He stole my heart ever since I saw him in Little Manhattan, so I can't wait. I've gotten to the point where I watch the trailer at least three times a week ever since I started the first book.

Wore GAP shirt and skirt, Ralph Lauren blazer.

As I continue to battle out my thoughts on what will become of me in the new year quickly approaching, I thought the ampersand symbol really did sum it up quite nicely. Because really what else to symbolize all of what might come, if not the very symbol that says 'and.' And 'and' might really mean anything.

That's the beauty of it: whatever is ahead of me, I've no idea what it could be; and yes, it is killing me inside slowly.

As the weather would have it, I've gotten out my winter wardrobe (it never really goes away) and enjoyed a couple of nice days out.

I really need to put more effort into changing my purse, because I'm tired of looking at this one!...if only I had more time. I typically just run out of the house without thinking much on my outerware/accessories.

Wore Levi's jean leggings (they really just feel like stretched jeans), Target turtleneck, F21 jacket, Jos. A Bank scarf, and Vince Camuto boots.

To The New Year

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time in the middle of the holidays. The New Year is almost here and I really can't make much of it. This year was full of surprises and changes, yet I feel a little lost going into the next year.

I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it, so I keep staying up at night trying to work something out in my head, as it over thinking might actually give me an answer besides the obvious: I'll have to roll with it and see.

PS I keep thinking about When Harry Met Sally, and how their last scene, when Harry finally wants to spend the rest of his life with Sally, is at a New Year's party. Perfect timing.

It is undeniable when you see a photograph and it just changes the way you feel about the photographer. Perhaps, you saw some of their work, but it wasn't until a certain picture that it really touched you - to be able to see what they saw.

When I saw the picture above that was it. Ruth Orkin is one of the greatest women photographers in America, and it's obvious to see why. And it is obvious to see that it was a talent she had rather than a skill she developed. I'll stare at these few pictures a couple of more times. They just put me at ease.

A few posts ago, I mentioned how I don't like to wear sweatshirts - they just don't do anything for me - so I thought it was hilarious when I found this picture of me wearing one. You can't see it much, but I am wearing one [I was wearing it to go to bed before I got my hands on an electric blanket (which I shouldn't need since I'm in TX but I'd beg to differ)].

Anyway, I got my Christmas shopping done, woo hoo! and I found out what one of my gifts will be so I'm totally excited!! I can't wait to get my hands on it, ahhhhh....

Now to my wrapping skills....

I'm a sucker for wrapping paper....

Aaahhh, this sums up my feelings so well! Not that I stay up till three in the morning every night, but I'm having trouble sleeping as much as my body needs. I'm exhausted all the time! If I could just quit my job and just do school...funny thought, because every single class I've taken at college has been while working a full time job.

I just want this week to fly by, and then I'll be on vacation, so cheers to that!

Happy Friday! We're so close to Christmas I can't help to start getting a little anxious. However, I haven't done any shopping, so I'll have to do that soon! I hate shopping for other people. I'm the gift giver that everyone hates because I can never think of something thoughtful or even likable to give. I just never know what would be a good gift. SO good luck to me...

Have an excellent weekend everyone.

"Red Mitten" By Amy Rice

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner, I feel so disconnected from it today. But I thought this was a great piece to look at when I want to remind myself that it's almost here. Not exactly a Christmas painting, but it just triggered it in my mind.

Went to a different Asian market the other day, and I now regret not buying one of these cool drinks.

Pleated Leather skirt, sign me up!

SO I'm not one to love sweatshirts, maybe because in my mind I can only picture the chunky ones I always wore when I was little. I always picture them thick and frumpy layered on top of some ugly turtleneck. Well when I saw this picture I couldn't help frowning for a second - at the sweatshirt of course - but quickly realizing that I wanted the look badly. (Btw I still wouldn't wear sweatshirts because my boobs would make me look so heavy up on the top)

She looks so efforlessly good, the kind of good you achieve every once in a while and the beauty lays solely on the fact that you know you really didn't think about the outfit, you really did just throw it on.

Aww.... I should probably frame it in my mind as to think of when I'm thinking of the few holiday outfits I'll be wearing in just two weeks! two weeks for Christmas! Not that I'm that excited, it's just that time has flown by so fast...

It's here! The coolest Nan Lawson Illustration

Once again I had a hectic weekend with running around back and forth, but there was a little surprise waiting for me when I got back home last night. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind print I ordered was patiently waiting for me!

It's as beautiful as the photo online and I can't wait to put ip on the wall - which sadly won't probably be till next weekend because I'm super booked this week. But still, I can stare at it before going to bed...

Thank you Nan Lawson!

Ralph Lauren Blazer

Despite the fact that I'm barely just feeling better, I do appreciate that Texas has stayed cold. It's nice when it stays cold for a while and you get used to the cold air, so everytime you go out it doesn't hit you quite as hard.

Also, I do love all the different layering I can do, and I think winter clothes typically suit me better.

Althought this Ralph Lauren piece is officially a blazer, I like to wear it as a coat every once in while. It's too cool to stay in the closet hidden. I like how this scarf gives the outfit the perfect pinch of color. I wore them with a ruffled collar GAP dress.

I have to admit that whenever I go to Taco Bell - which isn't very often at all - I always cherish the little messages on their sauces.

How cute is it to ask "promise you'll text me in the morning." They're so outspoken, with no filter - a refreshing point of view to someone who overthinks much before anything is said.

I'm craving one of their bean burritos now, darn. I guess I'll wait till after work.

Onto what I hope is a wonderful Wednesday, to everyone!

I wonder if it's normal that I have the lowest levels of energy I've had in a long, long time. Sure I'm sick, but still I shouldn't be this tired. Maybe I need to check my Vitamin D again.

Oh well, here's a quick outfit I managed to have my mom snap while I was visiting last weekend. I'm wearing a very versatile skin tight black dress. I love how I can just put it on and throw all kinds of random stuff on top, and it still looks good.

Also wearing my new wingtips! Aren't they awesome?! I can't stop wearing them, which is not good because I need them to last for a long time. Oh well, Target sweater, purple tights, and GAP coat.

During the weekend, when due to some freaky wave of the cold and lung collapse I was chained to the bed and the sofa, I was able to finish this project due tonight. I definitely am glad someone forced me to experiment with this 'stained glass' method.

I started out with the drawing (I wanted little men in tuxedos to wear bowties, so I eliminated the heads all together and used the bowties as heads), then I cut it out, and finally went through tons of magazines to find textures to fill in the 'glass' parts.

I really liked how they came out. I might do this again just for fun.

Closing In

I had an awful past week. I was sick for the first couple of days, and then I ended up in bed for days completely exhausted while pulling through a project that's due today.

I'm still sick - my lungs are still very weak and the coughing is increasing - but I hope I'll soon get over the whole thing. In the meantime, I've another three projects I have to finish, together with a paper and a test. Go me!

A few people know that I'm pretty obsessed with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The movie starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet takes on a couple of situations that have always touched me. But it's the effect of the whole movie that really just leaves me in a profoud overthinking mode where I'm typically amazed at how life works on us without us having much to do with it.

As the movie starts there's such feeling of loneliness and uncertainty, and then you realize that it's a small world and somehow it all works out regardless of time constrains or physical distance. And I always end up identifying with Joel (Jim Carey) and his journey to forgetting someone that eats at his core. If the possibility of erasing parts of the memory would be possible, I still don't think I'd do it. What would you learn from that? Of course the idea of working with a clean slate is tempting, but not sure if it'd be worthy.

Needless to say when I saw this illustration on Etsy by Nan Lawson, I went crazy for it, and I bought it. So I'm waiting for the 8" x 10" envelope of goodness to arrive. Can't wait!

PS The title is from the wonderful song by She & Him called "I thought I saw your face today" which recurrently plays on my playlists. I would have loved to find a decent video with Zooey Deschanel, but they're all shaky and you can hardly hear the lyrics, so I went for the one with good music and lyrics instead.
