" I'll just keep it to myself, in the sun "

I'm pretty tired of the heat down in Texas. Of course, it's better than the flooding up north, but still. Sometimes heat is too much.

Lately I've been layering more than usual and even wearing wool; somehow thinking that if I dress for fall the weather will follow.

Wearing an all vintage outfit in these pics really makes me wish I had time to go vintage shopping more often. I love discovering random things. A lot of the times, the gratification is way better than pulling something off the rack.

And in case you were wondering, the title refers to a great song by She & Him - "In the Sun." Zoey Deschanel is not only my dream girl, but her songs are pretty good too.

"For me, it isn't over"

(my current wallpaper)

I have to admit that I'm pretty in love with this dress. It's color, rosa palo in spanish, had me at hello. I found it at a vintage store snuggled between tons of other dresses. You really have to comb some racks, but the treasures you can find are always worth it.

It was also the first time I visited this park, an easy 2 minutes away from our house, and it was so relaxing. Granted we beat the crowd there, but still who doesn't love visiting a park?

Worn with my trusty Jessica Simpson platforms, DIY necklance and vintage cuff.

Btw Texas heat has not let out and we are practically cooking down here! Hopefully it will stop at some point, it's just been too much heat.

The title of this post is a line from a song I haven't stopped singing in weeks. There are so many lines that can stand on their own. It was hard to choose one.

"Someone like You" by Adele is by far a song that touches me and makes me withdraw and just think and overthink (the past and present as one).

Here's the video and lyrics.

"Someone like You" By Adele

I heard
That you're settled down
That you
Found a girl
And you're
Married now

I heard
That your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you

Old friend
Why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back
Or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I beg
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead,

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday
It was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise
Of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I beg
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known
How bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
"Don't forget me", I beg
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I beg
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Effects with a sprinkle of Voodoo

I have to admit that I can't stop playing around with the "effects" in photobucket. I will stop eventually - specially because I won't have time after classes start. (I'm taking a 2-D class I'm totally stoked about.)

Since I'm just enjoying my free time, I have been able to just disregard anything constricting. I'm just having fun.

Funny thing. I went into this cute little boutique in Fort Worth (Earth something?) and saw these super cute voodoo keychain dolls. And about half hour later, I went into the Barnes & Noble across this street and found this cute voodoo book. Maybe voodoo is in right now and I didn't know...

More photobucket editing.

So I have the tendency to take pictures out of the blue and at unexpected times and places, so I was taking this pic - among many others - right outside of work, and at one point, the campus police came over to check on me! I ended up learning about the wildlife around campus, but still, I will forever be known as the weird chick taking pictures of herself - well feet in this instance.

I am firmly convinced that I am the happiest when I am silly, which translates in doing whatever pleases me instead of others. (Warning: the practice of being silly often leads to people to stay away from you.)

I love the pic above. It was great to capture the shadows harmoniously with my hair.

I absolutely love the ice cream cones tee I'm wearing - which you really can't see here but it's awesome, but since I can't quite wear it alone at work, I paired it with a Target Cardigan and Oscar de la Renta scarves. Express Jeans and JS platforms.

(FYI: I just learned that people who are "swingers" don't say they "swing" instead they say they "Play." And no, I'm not a swinger.)

I love the lightiting in this pic. It's great when your camera malfunctions.

While you were sleeping

With the heat that predominates in Texas for the majority of the summer, it's really hard to take pictures outside. And since I typically dress warmer than most (the AC is too cold at most places), standing outside besides twirling between car and house door is extra harder.

So these were taken rather fast, and right about 11pm when the heat is a little less intrusive. Wearing old navy jeans, jean button-down, tank, draped sweater, and M. Michael Kors shoes.

Yep, I did ware that many layers in freaking Texas. I'm used to it.

Btw, there's always something so inviting about being outside at night. Cold or warm, I always want to linger outside just a little longer. The geckos around typically present a problem, but I can dodge them once in a while. I need to figure out a way to stay outside longer; the night is too good to pass up.

I have tons of mixed feelings towards Andy Warhol. As always someone's personal life always influences the opinion I have towards them.

Warhol is definitely someone that has a place in the Art world, but taking advantage of someone else's creativity or having other people mass produce your art - not forgetting the arrogance - isn't exactly worth forgetting either. Nevertheless, here's something I thought looked fun.

Robert Sheehan below

Being an avid watcher of, I was recommended to watch "Misfits." Most of the time, I blow off the suggestions, but Misfits did not disappoint at all. A group of kids who after a lighting storm end up with super powers (I'm not sure if by touching people to take over their mind and make them want to have sex with you is a super power but oh well).

I have to admit that I'm pretty hooked on this show right now, and I'm only sorry that it's six episodes per season. Hulu is just starting to post season two, so I can't wait to finish it.

But while trying to watch tid bits online, I found out that Robert Sheehan, who plays Nathan Young, will not be coming back for the third season. Oh NO!!!

His character is my favorite. He's a charismatic jerk, whose eyes are too pretty and distract you from his foul language. Damn! I'm not sure the show will be the same without him. And I haven't finished season two, but I really hope Kelly and him finally got together. (Kelly's accent is the best!)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next season. We'll see how it turns out.

This is the theme song the show uses. I love it! I can't help to dance to it every single time I hear it. It's contagious. I think it's by a group called The Rapture, and the song is called "Echoes"... I think.

Why the jumpsuits, you might ask? They're supposed to be doing community service. Ha!

Sun Dried

The creative side of my brain has been twirling more than usual lately. I feel there is not enough time in the day to process everything I think about.

I definitely hate it when an idea comes to mind at a time where I cannot execute it or even write it down to work on it later. When I'm in meetings it happens all the time. Completely uncalled for.

Anyway, here's a F21 floppy hat, Macy's sweater, and Old Navy jean skirt. Paired with black socks and C. Santana heels. Somehow while I edited the pictures, I felt like water coloring dried vines (last picture).

It's my first ever complete watercolor piece - if you can call it that, quite aware it's nothing close to deserving of sharing, but I'm all about making fun of myself - and I think the only thing that has redeemable quality is the thickness of the vines. While I was 'painting' it, I really just enjoyed the 'chunkiness' of the color paste.

(Btw in the picture above I'm wearing the promise ring my dad gave to my mom 27+ years ago, how cute is it?)

This was the result of some Preview magic.

With this pic, I was trying to showcase the amazing clip-on earrings I was wearing. I found them at a thrift store, and I only wish I knew who they were by. And of course, taking pictures of yourself it's never that easy.

I layered way too many colors on this thing.

Pinks and Pearls

Let's be honest, taking pictures in this boiling weather has been hard. More than hard, really. You step out and you've got drops of sweat in two seconds.

Trying to cope, I've been taking pictures early in the morning when the heat hasn't exploded yet. It's still uncomfortable, but bearable.

I really like this Oscar de la Renta scarf I picked up with two more, because I couldn't make up my mind.

It has a certain old fashion sense to it. Of course I paired it with faux pearls.

Totally ready for some cool weather, but in the meantime, I guess I'll keep wearing skirts and sweaters for the office.

Oh, and I chopped 4 1/2 inches of my hair. So liberating!
