Ralph Lauren's Stripped Revolution

The Texas weather has been a little crazy lately, though for the most part has remained not too cold. The 26th was pretty cold, but it hasn't been too bad since then.

However, I refuse to dress down giving in to the weather, so I continue to wear items that don't protect me much. I really don't care though, because I really don't go outside much -- just the walking between the car and the door.

I paired this Ralph Lauren stripped blazer with a cashmere sweater and a Liz Claiborne stripped shirt. Levi's skirt and Marc Fisher shoes accessorized with a Anne Klein NY necklace. I almost felt scholarly.

It's almost the New Year!! Enjoy everyone!

Christmas came and went, isn't it all relative?

I feel stuck in time. And in a couple of days, I'll return to work and realize time does in fact never stop. But until then, I will admire the endless hours of my smeared mind trapped in an airless capsule.

I am super happy about this bebe vest I bought a while ago. I'm actually wearing it backwards, so I had to take the tag off all together. But this way I've made it reversible, which I prefer.

I paired with a purple sweater dress and my Vince Camuto boots.

Hanging by a Moment

For the first time in a long, long time, I am sick. The all too common symptoms have been tormenting me for days: sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, among others.

I can only think of the beautiful Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada when she describes her cold as "death warmed up."

I am not quite as bad, but I have also been taking plenty of medicine. (Btw I highly recommend taking plenty of Vitamin C, Emergen-C to be exact, it's a miracle.)

Looking forward to tomorrow, and only hoping I feel better then.

I wish everyone a Merry, Merry Christmas!!

Another busy Sunday - in a vintage dress

I can't believe Christmas is around the corner. After watching "The Fighter," I've been running around with my family trying to buy all the food needed for Christmas day. We're having Tamales.

Actually, my family's tradition is to celebrate the day before, the 24th, and we stay up until midnight and then open the gifts. lol

I have one gift to go and then I'll be done, finally!

Wearing: vintage dress, Merona cardigan, Jessica Simpson platforms, DIY necklace, and target belt.

Paul & Joe + Wildfox

I love this Paul & Joe dress. I'd probably never wear that style (would have to try it on first lol), but it is adorable.

The sweater is from Wrangler and the shorts are from Modekungen. The last two pictures are from Wildfox Couture.

It hasn't gotten really cold here in Texas, so it's hard to move on to spring when I still haven't enjoyed the fall. But oh well.

Christmas is around the corner, so I'll think about that instead.

I Become Part of the Past

Here's the last batch of drawings I had left to post. I'm not happy with the last two (a seashell and a badly set up still life of a duck and a wooden hand :{ ) But the rest are somewhat pleasing.

The first above the leg of my desk in our drawing room mainly done to get used to using pastels.

The one below was to master the art of cross-hatching. A technique I greatly enjoyed and will be looking forward to using it again. As you can see it's all filled with gel pen.

One thing that bothered me about our class is that it was all about technique with the different media (gel pen, pencil, ink, charcoal, color, etc.), so I rarely got to draw what I wanted.

This book and the wine glass was a small sketchbook project that I should finish. I had the freedom to choose the item and the technique, which I chose an "eraser" drawing.

You start by filling the page with medium gray tones, and then erase back to add light values and add more charcoal to add dark values. This is probably my favorite kind of drawing.

The wheel "picnic" drawing was supposed to be "color as you see it," so it took forever to layer all the colors to get the 'right' tone. My teacher liked it, she called it 'painterly" lol.

Oh and this is after she took them to grade them, so this one took a beating. It got 'damaged' and I will have to retouch it.

And these two I'm not happy about simply because I already knew how to use pastels so what was the point? and the seashell was just a weird assignment consisting of two more drawings that I'd rather not show.

And honestly speaking, they're just bad.

Regardless of whether these are good or bad, I will definitely miss my drawing class. It was a lot of fun and stress relieving lol

I will definitely keep using some of the techniques I learned.

Sunday Morning

Sunday was a hectic day. Christmas tree up, gift wrapping, buying more gifts, winter gardening, etc.

My favorite part was seeing the tree all done and meeting the handsome boy (dog) a couple of pictures down.

At our house there's constant remodeling, which leads to looking for the Christmas-tree-space every year. Fortunately we got it to work.

I have to admit that 99 percent of the time I hate paisley prints, but with this skirt it just worked - wearing it with an oversized Van Heusen men's shirt, Jessica Simpson belt and vintage necklace, Steve Madden Clutch.

My mother has wanted to steal this necklace from me for as long as I can remember, but I tend to notice when something is missing.

Isn't he handsome?? We went into a Gardening Solutions store, and there he was running back and forth with an impressive commanding bark.

He was totally friendly and let me pet him the entire time.

Indoor gardening anyone?

I have to admit that I really miss my photography class. Although I do not have the time to pursue photography to the extend I'd like, I still carry my camera everywhere.

Fortunately for me, some of my best pictures are the ones snapped out of the blue. Not to say they are good, they just please me.

Now that drawing is over (will post a couple of more drawings later), I need to think about what to take next. I'm already registered for a 2-D Design class, but I have to see if I want to keep it.

Anyway, here's a couple of pics. And btw, the tomato was already on the trash can - I just happened to spot it.

And I immensely regret not posting last month. I am sort of in a slump. And although I don't really know what I'm holding on to, I hope I can see the light sometime, somewhere.
